
On A More Serious Note…
November 3, 2009One of the most disappointing parts of the street art scene is when well-done art is painted over/ripped down/buffed off. This happens regularly with graffiti and stickers, but most larger installments are allowed to stay in place for a larger period of time. A few months ago I posted a few pictures of a very cool installment on Capitol Hill. It was on a side wall of a loading dock of a self-storage business. I only saw the wall because I stopped to sit down and make a phone call right next to it. In no way could it have lowered the businesses value or even make the building look worse than it already does.
Unfortunately, someone (either the business or a third part) decided to paint over the wall, leaving it ugly and discolored. Below are some before and after pictures. You can be the judge of which one is more appealing.
